3rd Annual Pumpkin Chunkin & Harvest Festival

Have you ever been curious how far you can make a pumpkin fly? Of course you have and now is your chance to find out!

You are invited to participate in the third annual Okotoks Optimist Club (OOC) “Pumpkin Chunkin” Competition!

Pumpkin Chunkin is the act of building a machine that has the sole purpose of launching a pumpkin as far as possible with hilarious results. Events of this type are huge in the United States and are gaining popularity in Canada. For example, the World Championship Punkin Chunkin (WCPC) has been running since 1986, has gotten over 100,000 spectators, and has been featured on the Discovery Channel and Science Channel. World records involve catapults and trebuchets launching pumpkins around a kilometre although the Okotoks event sees distances much shorter than that. Most importantly it is fun!

About the event

The Okotoks Optimist Club has brought this action to your backyard and we are pleased to announce the Third annual Okotoks Optimist Club (OOC) Pumpkin Chunkin competition.

This will take place at Country Living & Garden Center, located just south of Okotoks on Highway 2A & Southridge Drive on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 11:00am until 3:00pm.

This is your chance to get in on the only Pumpkin Chunkin event in the area and support a great cause. The Okotoks Optimist club is part of a worldwide volunteer organization made up of more than 2,500 local Clubs whose Members work each day to make the future brighter by bringing out the best in children, in their communities, and in themselves.

We won’t be launching pumpkins a kilometre but we will have some fun, learn some lessons, and make this an Okotoks and area October tradition that will be something to brag about!
